NZICC Opening
New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) welcomed its first guests into the venue in early 2026. Special PR brought to me the challenge of activating the large space and highlighting the partner restaurants.
Along with live music, performance and art this moment was about NZICC’s capacity for catering and cuisine. Each restaurant was distinct; this proposal showed them how they could transform a 1×3m modular table into a mini sensory experience.
These sets of designs show my collaborative response to the challenge with Special PR. This project is also a demonstration of my modelling of the NZICC venue, which has become invaluable to clients anxious to see how designs show up in situ.
The Template
NZICC had its own portable restaurant tables. With a modest budget in mind, I proposed a frame/partition wall structure, signage and plinths as a package for each restaurant activation.
Applied to the Restaurants
I researched the restaurants thoroughly. Once acquainted with their individual design and offerings, I was able to build an identity through props and materials. Each restaurant pod had the same bones, but through dressing/theming, we were able to capture the spark of each one.
Rendered in Situ
One of my many site models is the new NZICC building. Using lighting, people, and foliage, I was able to show the client how the activations may look on event day within the venue itself.
